What if we think of hope as a muscle that requires practice and exercise. Hope is a necessity that creates change and resiliency. Hope is an act of bravery that fights against disappointment and loss. When we surrender to despair, our spirit shrinks to a smallness that's unrecognizable to the part of us that wants to be resilient. The desire to be strong and resilient lies within each of us but we must attend to it. Have you struggled with having faith that you can ultimately overcome anything? We all know that physical fitness requires a commitment to a regular practice of exercise, yet we forget that mental fitness also requires a similar commitment. In order to become mentally stronger, we need to be more aware of what we think about throughout the day. We need to replace pessimistic thoughts with hopeful intentions. What's 1 positive way you've surprised yourself lately? Think of 1 example in recent months when you felt resilient. Write it down. Honor your strength in ways you often forget to do when feeling less hopeful.
I challenge you to be intentional about exercising your hope muscle.
Focus your thoughts on solutions rather than sacrifices. Remember that decline and regrowth depend on each other and life ebbs and flows.
